
Ann Stinson grew up on the Cowlitz Ridge Tree Farm just outside of Toledo, WA. After high school, her interests took her to Bellingham, Japan, New York City, and then to Portland, OR. She has a BA in English from Western WA University and a MA in East Asian Studies from Columbia University. She worked for the public policy non-profit,
The Century Foundation in NYC, and then taught middle school and high school in NYC and for the
Parkrose School District in Portland, Oregon. She splits her time between Portland, where she lives with her husband, Tom, and Toledo, where she is a managing partner of the Cowlitz Ridge Tree Farm, LLC. She is the author of
